FAQs

WHAT IS A SKIN PRICK TEST?

Skin prick testing is an effective way to test for allergies as well as to determine the triggers for hay fever and asthma. This safe procedure is performed by our allergy physician or trained registered nurse at our Edgeworth clinic. Find out more about skin prick testing by watching our video.

DO I REQUIRE A REFERRAL?

Yes, to attend our Edgeworth clinic you must first request a referral from your GP and send it to Newcastle Allergy Immunology. You may email it to info@allergynewcastle.com.au or fax it to 02 4950 6816.

WHAT IS THE WAIT TIME FOR APPOINTMENTS?

We provide patients with the convenience of short wait times for allergy and immunology appointments. Please call us on 02 4950 6842 to arrange your appointment with our Newcastle allergy and immunology specialists.

DO I NEED TO FILL OUT A PATIENT CLINICAL INFORMATION FORM?

Yes, please see our Patient Forms page to download your patient clinical information details prior to your appointment.

DO YOU CATER FOR ALL AGES?

Yes, our clinic specialises in paediatric and adult allergy and immunology services. We provide evidence-based consultations and the most effective tests and treatments, in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

WHERE CAN I FIND OUT MORE?

You may connect with Newcastle Allergy Immunology online and visit us on Facebook.

WHAT ARE YOUR OPENING HOURS?

Newcastle Allergy Immunology operates Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm. Please note that we are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays. We are also closed for a brief time over the Christmas/New Year’s period; please check our Facebook page for further details.

WHY DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO SEE YOUR CLINIC?

The referral allows Newcastle Allergy Immunology to do two things: process your Medicare claim, and also allow the doctor to determine level of urgency and type of testing you require. Please forward a copy of your referral to our rooms and someone will call you within 2 weeks to arrange an appointment.

WHAT KIND OF ALLERGY TESTING DOES NEWCASTLE ALLERGY IMMUNOLOGY SERVICE DO?

We have two kinds of allergy tests, Skin Prick Testing and Patch Testing. Each will test for different types of reactions. You can refer to the videos on our Services page for more information.

IS THERE PARKING AT NEWCASTLE ALLERGY IMMUNOLOGY?

There are 7 car parks (including one disabled car park) in our car park (that we share with 2 other companies), as well as street parking. Edgeworth Town Square is right across the road with additional parking.

DO YOU HAVE DISABLED ACCESS?

Yes, there is a ramp to the left of our entry.

WERE YOU PREVIOUSLY LOCATED AT CHARLESTOWN?

Yes, Newcastle Allergy Immunology used to have offices in Charlestown. However, we relocated to Edgeworth in November 2017.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

Newcastle Allergy Immunology is located at 3/7 Arnott Street, Edgeworth, 2285. This is positioned behind the Edgeworth Town Square Shopping Centre. You will turn off Main Rd onto Callan Street and then turn right onto Arnott Street (unfortunately there is no street sign for Arnott Street).

PLEASE NOTE THERE IS AN ARNOTT STREET IN NEWCASTLE WEST, THIS IS NOT US! WE ARE IN EDGEWORTH.
